A big congratulations to Mitchell Nekesa, a student at Destiny Junior Education Centre who has been given a scholarship to go to Alliance Girls High School.

Mitchell comes from very poor family with a single mother and four younger siblings. They all live in a small single room rusted in the Mathare slums Nairobi, Kenya. Her mother is jobless but depends on her small business of selling sukumawiki and washing people clothes to support her children.

Mitchell joined Destiny Junior Education Centre after an interview assessment which was carried out by a social worker who recognised she was in need of educational support. She then was admitted in class 2 on her arrival. She has been really hardworking and focused in her education and even came to school to study in the small library outside of normal hours. This year she sat her KCPE national transition exams and managed to score 405 marks. She was called to join Alliance Girls High School and through the support of various donors will be starting shortly.

We are immensely proud of Mitchell and wish her every success at her new school!
